Creating patterns from my toile, I'm also adding the important details like centre front and where the curve is meant to be cut in the fabric.
Created my toile for my drape design, afterwards I marked where things on the garment need attaching, pleating centre front and back etc so I know how it'll fit together when I create the real thing.

Did a quick illustration of my final drape design. I really like it ;)
I've adjusted my dress so it now joins together at the waist, I've also done a bit of fabric manipulation on the shoulder to see how well it goes with the dress.

I think the manipulation adds some detail to the dress and creates a really nice drape on the back. I've decided to go with grey and a dusty pink as my colour pallet for the dress as they go very well together.

Been doing some more draping today, came up with some new ideas by using my other drapes as inspiration and to develop further. I think the last two photos are my final drape design idea as I really like the style and how the drape curves and falls.

I'll probably develop the idea a bit more but it depends on how long I have as I'm on my 3rd week of when this project has to be done by.

Created some more fabric manipulation samples. I'm really enjoying making these even if it does take time to do.

Did some more draping today, again I cut a circular shape out of fabric but cut I also cut a curv into it to see how different the drape falls  on the stand.

Tomorrow I plan to shop for some different fabrics in Birmingham so next week I can experiment draping some more.

Did some more sampling today, trying different techniques and what I could use on my finial drape piece. Really love the second sample combined with the fabrics sheen.

Started creating fabric manipulation samples and from here I'll be able to develop ideas further using my research.

For the past week I've been doing my research/develop for my new project Surface Drape. I started looking at 1950s silhouettes and the style of drape, from there it branched off for me looking at other styles of art work that related to the 50s styling.

I also looked at different types of draping you can do on the stand and also fabric manipulation. I've done embroidery and printing a lot in my previous projects and I haven't worked with just fabrics and changing how it looks so I want to focus on that this time.

Did some more draping today using just a circular piece of cotton fabric on the stand. For the last photo I cut into the fabric to create two triangles so I could work more with the fabric to experiment more.

My next project is involving draping so yesterday I attempted doing some draping and a bit of pleating on the stand, made the dress up out of my head.

I'd like to share a photograph when I visited The Vivien Leigh Collection today at the Haynes Fine Art Gallery at the Cotswolds i...
